Tozando Hiei Villa is a private whole-house stay in Hieidaira, Otsu, Shiga, Japan. Kyoto lies to the west and southwest, and the Otsu side of Lake Biwa to the east. The villa is outside Kyoto city, in a residential area among the hills. Use the regional map to see the actual relationship between the villa, temples, Tozando stores and lakeside destinations.

By car from the villa, eastern Kyoto around Shogoin and Sanjo is roughly 20 minutes or more; the Otsu lakeshore is roughly 15 minutes or more. For a specific planning example, Google Maps estimates checked on 1 November 2026 for departure at noon on 10 November showed Shogoin at 9.0 km and 18–26 minutes, Otsu Port at 8.3 km and 16–24 minutes, and Kyoto Station at 13.9 km and 30–60 minutes via the Shimogamo–Otsu route. These are forecasts for that direction and departure time, not guaranteed journey times.
別邸から車で、聖護院・三条方面へ約20分〜、大津の琵琶湖畔へ約15分〜が代表的な目安です。11月1日に確認した、2026年11月10日12時の別邸発の予測では、聖護院は9.0km・18〜26分、大津港は8.3km・16〜24分、京都駅は下鴨大津線経由13.9km・30〜60分でした。目的地、方向、出発時刻をそろえた計画例で、所要時間の保証ではありません。

An eastern Kyoto day could combine Ginkaku-ji, a separately planned visit to Tozando Shogoin and Nanzen-ji. A Shiga day could focus on Sakamoto and Hiyoshi Taisha, then the Otsu waterfront. Omihachiman and Hikone are further excursions that deserve more time. Check each destination’s official opening and access information; these are independent sightseeing ideas, not tours sold with the villa.

The hillside setting makes transport planning worthwhile, especially for late arrivals, luggage and travelling with children. Check current bus services and the walk to the stop, or confirm taxi coverage, availability and return arrangements with the operator.
